A well-draining spot is essential for success, as ‘Ivory Bells’ can succumb to rot if kept too wet. Plant in a well-drained soil that is rich in organic material in full sun to partial shade. Afternoon shade is appreciated in areas with a very hot summer. Fritillaries often give off a mild musky scent when the sun warms them, which may have much to do with their excellent deer resistance.
